This Fall, despite all the travel restrictions and a 0-case policy in China, Interprocom managed to organize a series of memorable, exclusive events together with Biondi-Santi. The legendary 'Biondi-Santi Experience' was brought by us to Shenzhen and Beijing, where a historical tasting showcasing 3 decades of wines was held.
We had the pleasure of experiencing Biondi-Santi's uniqueness with Michelin chefs, friends in the media, and our loyal fans. It was a wonderful journey with Biondi-Santi line tasting from 1985 until 2016 paring with Chinese and international cuisine.
Biondi-Santi CEO, Giampiero Bertolini, joined the event to welcome our guests via a live-streaming session and personally share the history of the Biondi-Santi family, the specificities of the wines and vintages tasted as well as the future direction that the winery will be undertaking in order to modernize the technology behind its wine-making process while preserving the elegant and iconic DNA of the wines.
About Biondi-Santi
When people talk about the most expensive wines in the world, Biondi-Santi often appears on the list.
Biondi-Santi is one of the most famous names in the Italian wine world and probably the only Italian wine that is more than 100 years old.
Brunello di Montalcino was first produced by Biondi-Santi in 1888, and it was the first Brunello di Montalcino in history.
Even today, when a new vintage of Riserva is announced at Tenuta Greppo, the Biondi-Santi main estate, this extraordinary event is celebrating all across the globe. Renowned for its extraordinary longevity, this rare wine has been released only 40 times from 1888 till today and each production is extremely limited.
Riserva is traditionally produced with grapes coming from only the oldest vineyards, of more than 25 years of age.
At the centre of the cellar at Tenuta Greppo there is a dark room, hidden away from the world, dedicated specifically to Riserva. It is “La Storica”, the estate wine library where Biondi-Santi carefully refines the bottles of each Riserva vintage ever produced.
“La Storica” is an intimate place where the bottles lie neatly stacked in small cells divided by vintage, naked, wearing only a drop of bees wax to seal the cork and minimize oxydization.
The Riserva will be removed from La Storica only at the moment that it is sold. It is then dressed with the original label from its vintage, including “la lunetta” – the neck label which carries the number of each bottle, and the date of its departure from the cellar is hand written on the back label.
If a Riserva has been topped up and re-corked in the past, a special topping-up certificate will be placed around its neck, certifying when this delicate reconditioning has taken place.
Let us cheers to Biondi-Santi's rich history and exciting future!
